Certification in Nuclear Cardiology
Although the council recognises that the examination does not yet have formal professional or legal standing, it has he potential to become the standard for certification in Nuclear Cardiology in Europe. In cooperation with CBNC the exam took place in Vienna in 2004 for the first time.
The Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology
is an independent body based in the USA, where it has run an annual examination since 1996. CBNC is an experienced and professional body and it is respected as an objective assessment of nuclear cardiology practice. The examination is intended for medical practitioners who have already completed specialist training (for example in cardiology, nuclear medicine, radiology, etc) and it is therefore not an exit examination intended to be part of specialist training but a higher examination indicating an achieved standard in nuclear cardiology as a sub-speciality. Possession of the CBNC examination is required by some third-party payers in the USA.
